Working with four other practices locally, we are part of a two-year national programme looking at how we may develop a primary care mental health service in our area.

We are assessing individual needs and building resources to enable us to refer you to the appropriate service. We have a number of leaflets to give you which will help direct you to find the right support. We can offer exercise on prescription and books on prescription. Computer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is also available, currently through MIND in Trowbridge.

Coping with Panic - Nov 08

A course of three sessions will be aimed at helping people to understand and cope with the commonly experienced ‘panic attack’.

It is a taught course and no-one will be forced to talk about their own problems, although there will be discussion times and an opportunity to learn from others in the group. The course is free of charge, tea and coffee will be available for a small donation.

Aims To:

• Help you understand and cope with the commonly experienced ‘panic attack’
• Look at the physical warning signals of panic and positive ways of dealing with these
• Look at the behaviours which maintain and worsen the problem
• Introduce some relaxation and breathing techniques

The course runs for three weeks, starting 3rd Nov 2008. Sessions are two hours per week, 6.00pm - 8.00pm, to be held at:

Beating The Blues

Available in venues across the region, Beating the Blues is an easy-to-use self-help computer programme based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), designed to help develop more effective coping skills.

Use of the programme is completely anonymous and confidential.

Where Can I Access The System?

The system is currently available at 6 locations across West Wiltshire and we are hoping to extend this to more sites over the coming months.

Eastleigh Surgery, Westbury
You need to book sessions in advance, simply by phoning the surgery on 0844 477 8760. You can book up to 6 sessions.

MIND, Trowbridge
The system is located in the summerhouse, in the garden and there is an alcove at the back where people can work privately on the computer. There is no need to book in advance.
