All the nurses at the practice are committed to providing the very best patient care, updating their knowledge and skills regularly to ensure that our "specialist" nurses are fully equiped to meet the health needs of our patients.

Nursing Manager

Liz Pickett, our nursing manager, has been working as a nurse locally for the past 7 years, prior to this she was employed within the education sector. Whilst being the nurse manager Liz still has and enjoys patient contact and currently works in the Minor Illness Unit and sees patients via the triage system.

Practice Nurses

Our Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistant provide many services including blood tests, ECGs, dressings, ear syringes and vaccinations.

Triage Nurses

When telephoning the surgery for an urgent appointment or telephone advice from your doctor you will be put through to a Duty Nurse who runs the Triage and Minor Illness Clinic. Triage stems from the French word to select. It is the Duty Nurse's job to select for you the most appropriate channel of care, according to your needs. This could mean arranging a same day appointment with the duty doctor or with herself. It could also include perhaps referring you to another health care professional or offering appropriate telephone advice. Triage enables you to receive the help you need when you need it by the most appropriate person as quickly as possible.

Children's Nurse

Mary Vernon has joined us as our Children's Nurse. She is an experienced nurse trained at Great Ormond Street hospital. Mary will be available to help with advice and co-ordinating treatment for children. She is available every morning from 9am.

Research Nurses

Miriam Ballesfin-Skelton and Gareth O'Neill co-ordinate research within the practice and the surgery's participation in local, national and international studies.

Community Nurses

The surgery has its own Community Nurses, formerly known as District Nurses. They provide nursing care for those ill at home. They are situated at Westbury Hospital and to contact them please telephone them on 01373 823773
