Confidential patient data will be shared within the practice health care team and with other health care professionals to whom you are referred for care. Your data may be used by those clinical teams providing your care for the essential purpose of clinical audit.
Confidential patient data may also be required for the broader purposes of public health and audit, research, the provision of health care services, teaching and training. Data disclosed will be kept to the minimum required to serve the purpose and if possible will be anonymised before disclosure.
Confidential and identifiable patient information will not be disclosed otherwise without explicit consent unless:-
In all of these circumstances the minimum identifiable information that is essential to serve the purpose may be revealed to someone with legal entitlement to access data for that purpose.
All individuals with access to your data have a professional and/or contractual duty of confidentiality.
If you are concerned about any of the ways in which your confidential data is used, please contact the practice manager. You are entitled to register an objection, which will be respected if this is possible.
You have a right of access to your health records. The Data Protection Act (1998) gives you the right of access to all information that Westbury Group Practice holds on you manually and on computer. It is your legal right to see your records and if you so wish, to obtain a photocopy of them. Only in exceptional circumstance can access be withheld.

Yes you can if your child is under the age of 16. However, children over the age of 16 must give consent, preferably in writing, to Westbury Group Practice to enable sharing of patient information with specified persons.
If a member of Westbury Group Practice needs to contact you on the telephone, they will ask to speak with you. Should someone else answer the telephone, the name of the caller and the reason for calling will not be given. This is to ensure that your right to privacy is upheld. Likewise, messages will not be left on answer machines unless essential.
