We also provide a range of further services, details of which can be found by following the menu on the left.
Westbury Group Practice offers a range of information and confidential advice on Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH) to people of any age. This includes the pill, condoms, coil use, hormonal injection, hormonal implants, emergency contraception, menstruation, menopausal problems, safer sex, STI's, healthy eating.
If you have had unprotected sex or the condom split, you are at risk of being pregnant. You can get an emergency appointment with one of the CASH nurses for emergency contraception.
You may become a carer in one or two ways; it either just creeps up on you and you realise just how much you are having to do, or it can happen suddenly because of an accident or illness. Either way, Westbury Group Practice is able to offer you help and support when needed. Please make us aware if you care for someone, by asking for your name to be added to our Carers register. We offer an annual health check, and we can refer you to Social Services or Carers Support for a carers assessment, if you so wish.
Patients who take the anti-coagulation drug Warfarin need a regular blood test called an INR to monitor the dose of Warfarin they need to be taking.
For the past 7 years, Westbury Group Practice has been involved in clinical trials.
The unit, originally set up by Dr Edwards, is now co-ordinated by the Principal Investigator, Dr Mike Gumbley. Nurse, Miriam Ballesfin-Skelton is involved in the day to day management of the trials.
Some medical examinations and insurance forms are not paid for by the NHS. Please contact reception who will be able to advise you whether you need an appointment to see a doctor and whether a fee will be payable for the service you require.
